Guatemala is the opposite shape of problem from most restricted countries: nothing prohibits crypto, and nothing regulates it either. The three statutes that make up Guatemala's monetary, foreign-exchange and anti-money-laundering perimeter, taken from Banco de Guatemala's own 2025 compilation of current law, contain not one occurrence of the words virtual, cripto, bitcoin or activo digital between them.
What the Ley Monetaria (Decreto 17-2002) does establish is that the national monetary unit is the Quetzal and that only Banco de Guatemala may issue notes and coin inside the Republic, which settles the narrow question a reader coming from neighbouring El Salvador will ask: crypto is not legal tender in Guatemala. Article 6 then does something that matters more for private dealing than the legal-tender point does.
A perpetual on ARB tracks price and does not confer ownership of the underlying — the same contract mechanics apply in every jurisdiction; what differs by country is legal status and funding rails.
