Is Bitcoin trading legal in Finland?

Spot crypto is lawful in Finland and the provider side changed hard in 2025. Finland's national registration regime for virtual currency providers was repealed and replaced by MiCA, under which a crypto-asset service provider needs authorisation from FIN-FSA; the national transition period ended on 30 June 2025, and FIN-FSA states plainly that only authorised crypto-asset service providers are allowed to actively offer and market their services. A provider whose application is still under review may not actively offer services until authorisation is granted, and if authorisation is refused it must terminate operations completely; FIN-FSA advises clients of a former virtual currency provider that has not applied to withdraw their assets.

30% on capital income up to 30,000 euros and 34% on the part above that. A taxable disposal arises when you exchange crypto for euros or another official currency, exchange crypto for other crypto, pay invoices with crypto, or buy goods or services with it - so a crypto-to-crypto swap is a taxable event. Gains and losses are computed FIFO, with the Tax Administration providing its own FIFO calculator.
