The standing framework is Act VII of 2024 on the crypto-asset market, which covers the issuance of crypto-assets in Hungary and crypto-asset services performed on Hungarian territory, requires every crypto-asset service provider to comply with MiCA, and names the Magyar Nemzeti Bank as the supervisor. Providers already operating before 30 December 2024 had until 1 July 2025 to come into MiCA compliance. Alongside that, Hungary had built a separate national regime around 'crypto-asset exchange services' (kriptoeszköz-atvaltasi szolgaltatas), validated and supervised by a different body, the Szabalyozott Tevekenysegek Felugyeleti Hatosaga (SZTFH), with a matching criminal-law layer in the Criminal Code.

15% personal income tax on the annual net profit from crypto-asset transactions. The rate is not stated in the crypto provision itself: section 67/C creates the income category, and section 8(1) sets the rate at 15% of the tax base for income falling under the Act unless the Act provides otherwise, which section 67/C does not.
