Spot crypto is lawful and now expressly regulated. Norway implemented MiCA through its own Act on crypto-assets (kryptoeiendelsloven), which was sanctioned in the Council of State on 27 May 2025 and entered into force on 1 July 2025, together with amendments to the Money Laundering Act implementing TFR II.

Virtual assets such as cryptocurrency, digital tokens and other digital values count as property (formuesobjekter) for tax purposes and all income from them is taxable.
