What the law actually says

Is Zcash trading legal in Italy?

Spot crypto and leveraged crypto derivatives are two different questions in Italy with two different answers, and the sharper constraint on spot is not legality but who may serve you. Holding and trading crypto is lawful for an Italian resident; MiCAR governs who may provide the service. Legislative Decree 129/2024 implemented Regulation (EU) 1114/2023 in Italy and named CONSOB and Banca d'Italia as the competent authorities, splitting their remits by token type — CONSOB supervises conduct, transparency, orderly trading and client protection for crypto-asset service providers, Banca d'Italia supervises risk containment, capital stability and sound management.
